Welcome back to or new series here on Learning 4 Kids called Show and Tell Classroom. We are looking at the amazing Mrs Moorman’s Kindergarten.
Show and Tell Classroom has been developed from the idea of celebrating the wonderful work that teachers do in the classroom every day. There are so many inspiring teachers out there with amazing classrooms and Show and Tell Classroom is also opportunity for teachers to showcase their wonderful work and a place where other teachers can come and look for inspiration and ideas.
Today we are visiting another Australian Classroom but this time a Kindergarten Classroom. I am so excited and absolutely grateful to be sharing with you today the very inspiring Mrs Moorman’s Classroom.
Welcome to Our Jungle
Our jungle café (complete with animal onesies), discovery centres and vine covered ceilings made our class an exciting place to learn.
Nature Bands
Inside out clear sticky tape + magnifying glass + the school gardens = amazing discoveries, descriptive vocabulary, real life drawings and take home learning all in one simple activity!
Minion Mayhem
Our students were minion mad so Gru’s Science Lab appeared – where better place to mix potions and slimes to explore viscosity, matter and expand our scientific vocabulary?
(The costumes are homemade cotton overalls, yellow hats / t-shirts & Big W goggles)
Open Bear Surgery
Teddies appeared in our Doctor’s Surgery waiting room with all kinds of ailments. After admitting their patients each Doctor took x-rays, palpated and discovered strange objects hidden inside. It took great concentration and skill to locate the foreign bodies, carefully remove them in surgery and then suture their patient ready to be admitted to the ward.
Look at all the different things we removed during the operations!
(My daughter and I hid random objects inside the bears and carefully stitched their seams closed with invisible thread to make it a challenge for the students to locate them)
NO JUNK IN OUR ROOM!
Anything recyclable is put to use in our class.
This amazing pirate ship started life as a huge stock order before it was captured by our students’ imaginations 🙂
Froot Loop and Popcorn Maths
Nothing motivates better than edible learning!
Students had to follow an individual colour guide to thread 1-10 Froot Loops onto a string. They then added different colours together, with the final challenge being to work out how many Froot Loops they had altogether.
The popcorn maths was an activity several students started independently with one student’s recess – which then grew to involve the entire class. Eating our ‘friends of 10’ was definitely the highlight!
About Mrs Justine Moorman
I am lucky to spend every day learning alongside amazing kids as part of an incredible teaching team.
None of this would be possible without my amazing Assistants Sharon and Linda and my DOTT teacher extraordinaire Tania. They share my joy of learning alongside the students and join in with my crazy ideas to make them a success 😉
Our program is play based, fun and focuses on teaching kids to think, wonder and to develop a lifelong love of learning.
Thank you Mrs Moorman for sharing with us your AMAZING and incredibly INSPIRING classroom.
